Jigra Movie review

Jigra (2024) is a gripping emotional action thriller starring Alia Bhatt as Satya, a fiercely protective sister, and Vedang Raina as her brother Ankur. The film, directed by Vasan Bala, revolves around Satya’s desperate attempt to save Ankur, who is wrongfully imprisoned in a foreign country and sentenced to death for drug trafficking. The movie explores the lengths Satya goes to, including a dangerous prison break plan, to protect her brother from a grim fate.

Alia Bhatt’s performance is widely praised, with her portrayal of Satya standing out as intense and powerful. She takes on a lioness-like role, displaying courage and emotional depth throughout the film. However, while her performance is a major highlight, the film struggles with some plot inconsistencies and a climax that doesn’t fully deliver on its promise. The film's pacing falters in the second half, and some of the action sequences, particularly the prison break, lack the necessary finesse and logic, which detracts from the overall impact.

In conclusion, Jigra has its emotional moments and strong performances, especially from Bhatt, but its narrative weaknesses may leave some viewers unsatisfied. It’s a movie driven by sibling love and loyalty, but with a few missed opportunities in execution.
